Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work on the Zero Trust desktop client that protects corporate devices by securely sending traffic to Cloudflare's global network.
• Implement high-performance networking code in Rust and platform-native languages/APIs across multiple desktop platforms.
• Improve code quality and build solid, testable, well-documented foundations.
• Make significant contributions to design and implementation of major development projects.
• Interact with other languages such as Swift, C#, C, and Python.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of Windows internals, kernel-mode programming, and network protocols.
• Experience in low-level Windows driver development, ideally network drivers.
• Excellent programming skills with high-quality, low-complexity code.
• Strong experience writing easily-testable and thoroughly-tested code (dependency injection).
• Experience with lower-level languages such as Rust, C, C++.
• Comfortable writing multithreaded, asynchronous code.
• Strong experience debugging network-related problems.
• Understanding of VPN technologies and trade-offs between privacy, security, and anonymity.
• Understanding of security protocols and standards.
• Experience mentoring engineers and owning technical designs end-to-end.

Conditions

• Hybrid; available locations: Austin, Seattle.
• Estimated annual salary for Seattle-based hires: $185,000 - $254,000.
• Eligible for equity plan and full benefits package.
