Director of Public Policy

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director - Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs for Energy, Climate and Resources (ECR) Sector based in United States.

• Lead and execute the global business development agenda for the Energy, Climate & Resources sector, identifying priority issues, industries, companies, and opportunities where strategic policy expertise can create value.
• Partner with country experts and internal teams to develop and pursue regional and market-specific business opportunities, including scopes of work, RFP responses, pitches, and commercial proposals.
• Represent the organization at relevant industry forums, conferences, and events, building relationships with industry stakeholders and generating new business opportunities.
• Strengthen business development processes, systems, and coordination across regional and global teams, using available technology and data to improve efficiency and visibility.
• Manage strategic client relationships at the global level and serve as a key point of contact for regional stakeholders within multinational organizations.
• Develop a sophisticated understanding of clients’ business models, organizational structures, priorities, challenges, and opportunities across relevant markets.
• Coordinate cross-functional client service efforts and ensure teams consistently deliver high-quality, impactful work across countries and regions.
• Lead client retention and growth strategies, including gathering stakeholder feedback, identifying new engagement opportunities, expanding existing relationships, and developing prospective clients.
• Track global sector performance, business development activity, revenue projections, and emerging opportunities, using CRM data and business metrics to inform leadership decisions.
• Advise leadership on resource investments, including personnel, professional development, intelligence capabilities, and other priorities supporting sustainable business growth.
• Contribute to recruitment and development efforts for Energy, Climate & Resources talent and support internal capability-building through workshops, training, and knowledge sharing.
• Build and maintain a strong external network of policymakers, diplomats, journalists, corporate leaders, business associations, think tanks, academics, and other influential stakeholders.
• Develop recognized subject-matter expertise in energy, climate, environmental, and resource policy and use it to strengthen external visibility, client relationships, and business development.
• Produce and promote thought leadership while identifying opportunities for colleagues and teams to demonstrate expertise and market leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, public affairs, international affairs, journalism, or a related discipline; a graduate degree is preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in government, multinational corporations, journalism, consulting, or related environments, preferably with significant exposure to energy, climate, environmental, or resource policy.
• Strong understanding of the geopolitical and regulatory environment across the Indo-Pacific and the ability to translate these dynamics into practical strategies for multinational clients.
• Demonstrated expertise and genuine interest in energy, climate, environmental, resources, or closely related policy areas.
• Experience managing senior client relationships, business development initiatives, consulting engagements, or complex stakeholder programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in fluent English, with proficiency in an Asian language considered a strong advantage.
• Confident public speaker with the ability to present complex issues clearly and engage effectively with corporate executives, policymakers, civil society representatives, media, and other stakeholders.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to establish trust and credibility with international counterparts.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to connect policy developments, geopolitical trends, commercial priorities, and stakeholder interests.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple workstreams under demanding deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively across international, multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexible and resilient, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure and ambiguous environments while adapting to changing priorities.
