Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and value proposition for technology solutions supporting patient access, adherence, and affordability.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing patient and client needs, business objectives, technical constraints, regulatory considerations, and expected business value.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and evolving customer expectations to identify opportunities and maintain market relevance.
- Partner with operations, project management, regulatory, quality, engineering, architecture, information security, privacy, data governance, and other stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
- Translate complex business needs into actionable product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development priorities while maintaining effective feedback loops with agile teams.
- Engage directly with clients and strategic stakeholders to understand pain points, priorities, and opportunities, ensuring product direction reflects real-world needs.
- Serve as an executive-facing product and solution leader during strategic client meetings, bid defenses, governance forums, quarterly business reviews, and portfolio discussions.
- Evaluate proposed client commitments for scope, feasibility, regulatory and validation implications, budget requirements, resource needs, dependencies, and delivery risks before commitments are finalized.
- Support business development initiatives, including RFI/RFP responses, pricing and estimation, client presentations, strategic planning, and product positioning.
- Partner with finance and pricing teams to understand cost structures, pricing strategies, profitability drivers, and overall product viability.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, positioning, messaging, launch plans, and product enhancement communications.
- Work with data and analytics teams to incorporate real-world evidence and insights that improve patient engagement, retention, and product performance.
- Ensure technology solutions align with healthcare regulations, industry standards, data security requirements, and HIPAA obligations.
- Support program startup and transition activities by ensuring product intent, approved scope, client commitments, decision history, budget assumptions, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations are clearly communicated to delivery teams.
- Sponsor business cases and technology/AI governance materials covering objectives, target users, expected value, costs, dependencies, risks, assumptions, success measures, and decision points.
- Establish strategic relationships with pharmaceutical clients to encourage co-definition, co-development, early adoption, and ongoing innovation beyond traditional RFP-driven engagements.
- Monitor product performance and user feedback and use insights to drive continuous improvement across the product portfolio.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Product Business Analysts when applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 8+ years of product management experience, preferably within healthcare, life sciences, patient support services, or a related regulated industry.
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy services, patient access programs, affordability solutions, copay programs, or patient assistance programs is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience defining product strategy, managing backlogs, prioritizing features, and translating business needs into clear product requirements and user stories.
- Ability to make difficult product decisions and prioritize initiatives based on business value, customer needs, technical feasibility, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of agile product development and the ability to serve as an effective bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, executives, technical teams, and cross-functional leaders.
- Ability to balance commercial priorities, technical constraints, patient needs, and healthcare or regulatory requirements.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to evaluate complex information and turn it into actionable product decisions.
