About the company

n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We give technical teams the freedom of code with the speed of no-code, so they can automate faster, smarter, and without limits. Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.

Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 260 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:

  • Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders
  • Earned 190K+ GitHub stars, making us one of the world’s Top 40 most popular projects
  • Backed by top investors, from Sequoia’s first German seed to our SAP's recent strategic investment - bringing us to a $5.2bn valuation
Responsibilities
  • Own product surfaces from discovery to delivery across areas like identity, access, governance, APIs, observability, environments, and enterprise integrations.
  • Ship high-quality features fast across the TypeScript stack, balancing usability, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Partner closely with Product to translate complex enterprise customer needs into clear scopes, technical trade-offs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build and evolve customer-facing experiences in Vue or React for admins, developers, and enterprise users managing n8n at scale.
  • Develop scalable Node.js services and APIs that power authentication, permissions, workflow lifecycle management, observability, integrations, and partner use cases.
  • Move fluidly between frontend and backend codebases to unblock your team and keep momentum high across complex product areas.
  • Build capabilities that help organizations control who can do what across n8n, including authentication, provisioning, RBAC, credential infrastructure, and secrets management.
  • Contribute to safe workflow delivery through environments, source control, versioning, testing, CI/CD validation, and deployment workflows.
  • Improve governance, observability, auditability, and runtime controls so admins can understand, troubleshoot, and enforce how n8n is used.
  • Build and maintain enterprise-grade integrations, nodes, SDK capabilities, and execution patterns that support automation at scale.
  • Design APIs, embed capabilities, and multi-instance management features that make n8n programmable for partners, developers, and large customers.
  • Instrument features end-to-end so you can measure impact, debug real-world behavior, and continuously improve reliability for business-critical workflows.
Requirements
  • Fullstack JavaScript/TypeScript experience: You’ve shipped customer-facing features using TypeScript across frontend and backend, and you feel comfortable working fullstack.
  • Product-minded engineering: You talk about users, workflows, and outcomes rather than only implementation details, and you enjoy turning complex customer problems into simple product experiences.
  • Modern web stack fluency: You have hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and either Vue or React.
  • Enterprise SaaS mindset: You understand the expectations of large organizations around security, reliability, scalability, auditability, and administrative control.
  • Scalable systems experience: You’ve built or operated high-traffic SaaS systems and understand trade-offs across performance, reliability, maintainability, and developer velocity.
  • Metrics and instrumentation ownership: You’re used to instrumenting what you ship, measuring impact, and using data to decide what to build, fix, or iterate next.
  • Ownership in small-to-mid teams: You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats, navigating ambiguity, and adapting to fast-changing priorities while keeping quality high.
  • Collaborative builder mindset: You share knowledge through code reviews, docs, and mentorship, and you thrive in a team that builds together.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Identity, access, or security experience: You’ve worked on SSO, SAML, OIDC, LDAP, MFA, SCIM, RBAC, permissions, secrets management, or credential infrastructure.
  • SDLC and deployment workflows: You’ve built features around environments, Git-based workflows, versioning, testing, CI/CD, release controls, or approval gates.
  • Integrations and APIs: You’ve built integrations, APIs, SDKs, automation platforms, or developer tooling that helps others extend a product.
  • Observability and governance: You’ve worked with audit logs, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, SIEM integrations, admin controls, usage insights.
