Holepunch is building peer-to-peer technology and distributed systems. This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving P2P technology within a large ecosystem of modular, reusable software components.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance production-scale applications and services using Node.js.
- Build and evolve peer-to-peer technology and distributed-system components.
- Design and implement modular, maintainable, and reusable code.
- Create, publish, maintain, and manage reusable npm modules.
- Contribute to the ongoing expansion of a large ecosystem of modular software components.
- Develop comprehensive tests, troubleshoot issues, and debug applications.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges related to networking, distributed systems, and P2P architectures.
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers across a globally distributed, remote-first environment.
- Contribute to open-source projects and decentralized technology initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience developing Node.js applications at production scale.
- Strong ability to write modular, maintainable, reliable, and reusable code.
- Hands-on experience creating, publishing, or managing reusable npm modules.
- Solid understanding of software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
- Strong interest in or professional experience with peer-to-peer technologies, distributed systems, or decentralized architectures.
- Ability to work independently while communicating clearly within a globally distributed team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with native Node.js extensions using C/C++ is preferred.
- Experience optimizing network protocols or distributed systems for performance is preferred.
- Familiarity with advanced networking concepts is advantageous.
- Contributions to open-source software projects, particularly within P2P or decentralized technology communities, are a plus.
