Responsibilities
- Independently own and drive high-impact technical objectives spanning multiple Data Platform teams, especially Data Lake.
- Align technical roadmaps across Data Platform.
- Lead large, complex, cross-team initiatives from discovery through rollout.
- Make architectural decisions across lakehouse storage, compute, orchestration, modeled data layers, and operational automation.
- Establish paved paths, standards, and shared abstractions.
- Partner with engineering, product, analytics, AI/ML, and governance stakeholders.
- Be accountable for long-term technical health of systems.
- Own response to complex platform issues.
- Invest in growth of senior and lead engineers.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, data platform architecture, and large-scale analytical processing.
- Expertise in lakehouse architecture, data ingestion, distributed compute, data warehousing, or platform reliability.
- Experience leading large, ambiguous, multi-quarter programs.
- Hands-on experience with Iceberg, Spark/EMR, Airflow, Python, and AWS.
- Understanding of schema evolution, materialization, observability, backfills, audits, access controls, and cost-aware operations.
- Effective at driving outcomes through influence and technical leadership.
- Passionate about mentoring.
Nice to Have
- Experience with custom databases and CDM-style modeled data layers.
- Experience with managed table frameworks like Materialized Views.
