About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Rare Disease KAM Regional Director based in United States.

This senior commercial leadership role oversees a regional Rare Disease Key Account Management team with a strong patient-first focus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Account Management colleagues across the assigned region, establishing alignment with business priorities, market objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for personnel and account management matters within the region, coordinating with national leadership when appropriate.
  • Establish and drive consistent execution of short- and long-term account priorities, focusing on mutually valuable opportunities within prioritized healthcare systems and customer organizations.
  • Coach KAM leaders and colleagues in developing and executing strategic account plans aligned with customer needs, market priorities, and therapeutic-area objectives.
  • Promote effective use of the integrated account team model and customer engagement strategies to strengthen collaboration and business performance.
  • Provide documented, competency-based coaching and development to build capabilities, improve performance, and support career growth across the regional team.
  • Manage regional budgets and allocate resources effectively in support of strategic account management priorities.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment, products, policies, and account management practices to provide accurate and compliant guidance.
  • Recruit and select Account Management talent in accordance with established hiring policies and approved processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop therapeutic-area goals, strategies, and tactics for the Account Management organization.
  • Provide leadership for KAM advisory groups, integrated product teams, and other strategic initiatives as required.
  • Lead special projects designed to improve account management execution, capabilities, and strategic impact across the Rare Disease business.
  • Analyze approved account management metrics and performance data to identify trends, draw meaningful conclusions, and guide business decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers, colleagues, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners while influencing outcomes through collaboration and strong facilitation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical marketing, or sales environments.
  • Significant Account Management or Key Account Management experience, including at least three years in a promoted position with demonstrated team leadership.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with a proven ability to develop and motivate diverse teams, manage performance, and lead effectively through organizational change.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving business objectives and consistently delivering against organizational goals.
  • Experience managing diverse teams comprising colleagues with different levels, responsibilities, and areas of expertise.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the environmental, commercial, and business trends influencing the healthcare landscape.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical capabilities, including the ability to use performance metrics to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages to different audiences and prioritize customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with confidence leading strategic discussions involving senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex business environment.
  • Broad leadership experience, including the ability to influence without direct authority, collaborate with peers, coach and develop colleagues, and guide teams toward meaningful outcomes.
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong execution skills and sound business judgment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%, including overnight travel for internal meetings, customer engagements, conferences, and other business activities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; current or future U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Conditions
  • Competitive base salary: Annual salary range of $230,900–$384,800, with compensation aligned to factors including location, experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Performance incentive: Eligibility for a Global Performance Plan with a 25% target bonus based on base salary.
  • Long-term incentives: Eligibility to participate in a share-based long-term incentive program.
  • Retirement benefits: 401(k) plan.
