Responsibilities
- Build and maintain services and tooling to automate the network lifecycle, including day-0 provisioning, day-N changes, drift detection and operational verification.
- Make network changes safe and transparent with CI/CD workflows, diff/review tooling, staged rollouts and rollbacks, audit trails and guardrails.
- Develop observability systems that scale across many sites, including telemetry pipelines, signal quality and tools to shorten incident investigations.
- Integrate source-of-truth data, expose APIs and build reliable automation to connect the network and the platform.
- Collaborate with network engineers and SREs to turn operational challenges into product-quality tooling.
- Manage large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders, break down complex tasks and guide own work and that of more junior colleagues.
- Develop expertise in specific technologies and write high-quality reference code; assess priorities and focus on high-impact work.
- Contribute to architecture and system design, take part in hiring and interviews, share knowledge and mentor others.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent practical background.
- Strong coding skills and an ownership mindset; ability to ship and operate reliable services.
- Proficiency in Go or readiness to switch; Python is also welcome. Other languages may be useful for open-source debugging and fixes.
- Interest in infrastructure and/or networking; network expertise is not required.
- Added advantages include networking background (such as former network engineering work, CCNP/education or data-center networking exposure), or strong interest and proven ability to learn quickly.
- Experience with automation and infrastructure tooling, including CI/CD, IaC, testing/staging environments or network-as-code workflows, is a plus.
- Low-level networking/datapath experience with eBPF/XDP, DPDK, kernel networking or traffic-processing systems is a plus.
- Experience designing high-load services and observability platforms (metrics, logs, traces, alerting and regression detection) is a plus.
- Open-source contributions or experience extending/debugging open-source components in production is a plus.
Conditions
- Base compensation range: $179,500–$224,300 USD per year. Actual compensation depends on job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, hiring level and geographic location.
