About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Supply Chain Operations based in the United States.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the execution engine behind a rapidly scaling healthcare supply chain.

Responsibilities
  • Own Systems & Formulary: Lead the configuration that determines how medication orders flow, including SKU and formulary builds, state-specific routing, product attributes, titration, cadence, pharmacy assignment, and integration health. Establish strong validation practices to ensure configuration accuracy and patient-safe execution.
  • Lead Network & Fulfillment Operations: Oversee the pharmacy partner network, including relationships, capacity, pricing, sourcing, onboarding, and nationwide coverage, while managing end-to-end fulfillment, exceptions, carrier issues, cold-chain requirements, and returns.
  • Drive service levels and routing performance: Establish and improve fulfillment SLAs while balancing service quality, operational efficiency, and cost. Redesign exception-management processes to reduce manual backlogs as volumes increase.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering: Translate operational challenges into clear technical requirements, participate in prioritization and scope decisions, and validate scalable tools for order triage, status visibility, network management, and formulary configuration.
  • Transform operational processes: Rebuild workflows designed for rapid growth into scalable, repeatable processes spanning order flow, pharmacy operations, Patient Support, credentialing, and related functions without disrupting ongoing operations.
  • Build operational documentation: Create reliable reference materials covering SKU composition, temperature and handling requirements, workflows, and partner processes so teams can self-serve and escalate only true exceptions.
  • Own launch and operational readiness: Partner with clinical teams on new products and formulations, driving testing, state coverage, SKU configuration, pharmacy readiness, and launches, including service and regulatory changes.
  • Support quality and compliance: Work with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure configuration, routing, and fulfillment processes are prepared for audits and inspections, including requirements associated with cGMP and state pharmacy boards.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams: Manage leaders and individual contributors across Systems & Formulary, Network Partnerships, Fulfillment Order Issues, and new product rollout. Hire effectively, establish clear ownership, manage performance, and reduce key-person dependency.
  • Champion automation and continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to automate workflows, strengthen data capture, improve operational visibility, and increase scalability without proportional increases in manual effort.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in operations, fulfillment, systems, pharmacy operations, or a related field, including 4+ years of people leadership with experience managing managers or leads.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams spanning analytical/systems functions and operational or vendor-facing teams, including hiring, team development, and direct performance management.
  • Demonstrated success scaling high-volume operations or fulfillment functions through periods of significant growth and increasing complexity.
  • Strong experience partnering with Product or Engineering on operational technology, including defining requirements, participating in prioritization, making scope tradeoffs, and validating delivered solutions.
  • A track record of establishing processes, documentation, and repeatable systems in environments where formal infrastructure was limited or underdeveloped.
  • Experience owning configuration, routing, or order-flow systems where operational errors can have significant customer or patient consequences.
  • Comfortable working across systems you do not directly control, including order-routing, API, and integration environments.
  • Proven vendor and network management skills, with the ability to maintain strong partnerships while holding external providers accountable to service levels.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical, operational, clinical, financial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, relatively flat environment with multiple concurrent priorities and significant ambiguity.
  • Preferred: Experience with 503A compounding pharmacies or other regulated healthcare environments such as 503B, PBM, mail-order pharmacy, or cGMP operations.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, order-routing platforms, API integrations, cold-chain or temperature-controlled fulfillment.
  • Preferred: Lean, Six Sigma, continuous-improvement, audit-readiness, or regulatory inspection experience.
