  • Partner with Engineering, Security, Compliance, Product, and Operations leadership to establish program strategies, technical priorities, delivery plans, and measurable success criteria.
  • Oversee major AWS and federal cloud initiatives, with a focus on scalability, security, cost efficiency, resilience, and operational performance.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud automation practices, including Terraform adoption, automated deployments, and reduced reliance on manual change management.
  • Lead enterprise disaster recovery programs, including cross-region failover architecture, recovery time and recovery point objective validation, and recurring resilience testing.
  • Drive Zero Trust identity initiatives, including privileged access management, SCIM expansion, and automated identity lifecycle management within federal environments.
  • Support FedRAMP High hardening, STIG validation, continuous compliance monitoring, and alignment with DoD Impact Levels, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other applicable requirements.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance leadership to maintain audit readiness and integrate security-by-design principles into platform and IT services programs.
  • Improve deployment pipelines, automated testing, security scanning, release governance, observability, monitoring, incident response, and overall platform reliability.
  • Define and monitor service-level indicators, service-level objectives, and error budgets in collaboration with engineering and security teams.
  • Build, recruit, mentor, and develop a growing Federal Platform Operations engineering team while establishing scalable methodologies, tools, and operating practices.
  • Serve as a technical liaison across teams, ensuring clear communication, effective dependency management, and alignment between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Apply Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches depending on program requirements and operational context.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and use AI-enabled tools to improve technical research, documentation, program analysis, communication, and workflow efficiency.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in federal IT, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or comparable technical environments supporting government or regulated missions.
  • 4+ years of experience leading technical programs, platform initiatives, or complex cross-functional engineering projects within SaaS, cloud-native, cybersecurity, or similarly technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering against FedRAMP, DoD IL4/IL5, STIG, or DoD Cloud Computing SRG requirements.
  • Strong AWS expertise, including services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and IAM; AWS GovCloud experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code, Terraform, container platforms, cloud automation, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, modern platform engineering, automation, and operational practices within federal or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana, along with associated incident-management processes.
  • Proven ability to manage complex initiatives involving numerous stakeholders, competing priorities, technical dependencies, and high-security requirements.
  • Experience building, mentoring, or leading technical teams, particularly within high-growth environments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders and manage expectations effectively.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms for technical research, documentation, analysis, and program execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the federal contracts.
  • Preferred qualifications include AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Security – Specialty, Terraform, PMP, or comparable certifications.
  • Direct experience achieving or maintaining FedRAMP High or DoD IL5 authorization, supporting third-party assessments, or working with NIST 800-53 control families is highly valued.
