Systems Engineer

About the company

• Cloudflare runs one of the world's largest networks powering millions of websites and Internet properties.
• Application Security team owns the security product portfolio including WAF, Page Shield, Web Asset Management and API Shield.

Responsibilities

• Design systems and write code following industry best practices; review RFCs, technical specs and code.
• Deploy and maintain live software-based services at scale (up to 100m requests/second, 1m customers).
• Take regular shifts as part of the team's On Call rota.
• Support and grow other engineers through knowledge sharing.
• Keep up to date with trends in detecting security risks to web applications.
• Work with engineers and product managers across teams on roadmap and delivery.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a software developer.
• Proficiency with at least one of Go or Rust.
• Exposure to DevOps tooling such as Kubernetes, Salt, Kafka or Systemd.
• Strong Linux / Unix fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with cyber security is preferred but not essential.
