About the company
Our partner is looking for a VP, Chief Architect based in United States. This executive role leads enterprise architecture at the intersection of technology, clinical informatics, data, and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategy across software, cloud, data, clinical informatics, AI, security, and related technology domains.
- Establish practical architecture principles and decision frameworks that balance innovation, speed, scalability, reliability, security, and cost.
- Guide major technology decisions and help Engineering and Product teams evaluate architectural tradeoffs and implementation approaches.
- Identify emerging technologies and capabilities that can strengthen platforms, products, and technical differentiation.
- Establish clear platform boundaries, ownership models, interfaces, and shared capabilities to reduce duplication, fragmentation, and technical debt.
- Align application, platform, API, data, knowledge graph, integration, security, and cloud architecture into a coherent technology ecosystem.
- Advance knowledge graph and clinical knowledge capabilities as foundational infrastructure for clinical AI and next-generation products.
- Define scalable architecture patterns for AI-enabled products and workflows, including knowledge-grounded AI, agentic systems, retrieval, evaluation, observability, and human oversight.
- Work directly with teams on complex technical challenges, including system design, technology evaluations, prototypes, and proofs of concept.
- Validate emerging technologies and approaches before significant investment or roadmap commitments are made, establishing practical paths from experimentation to production.
- Lead and develop the Enterprise Architecture team while maintaining high standards for technical depth, collaboration, and hands-on contribution.
- Mentor architects and technical leaders while strengthening the broader technical leadership community.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Informatics, Data Science, Security, and Infrastructure leadership to connect business priorities with architecture and execution.
- Establish lightweight mechanisms for architectural alignment, decision documentation, knowledge sharing, and reuse without creating unnecessary delivery bottlenecks.
- Support strategic customer and partner engagements involving architecture, integration, data, clinical informatics, and AI.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive experience across software, platform, data, informatics, or enterprise architecture, including experience with complex enterprise-scale systems.
- Demonstrated success as a hands-on architect who can move effectively between technology strategy, system design, prototyping, and implementation guidance.
- Proven experience leading architects and influencing engineering and technical leaders across organizational boundaries.
- Deep expertise in modern cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, security, reliability, and software delivery.
- Practical experience designing or enabling AI and machine learning capabilities in production, including generative AI architectures.
- Strong understanding of how to connect business and product strategy with technology, platform, and architectural decisions.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical leaders, executives, customers, and strategic partners.
- Experience in healthcare technology, clinical informatics, terminology, ontologies, interoperability, knowledge graphs, or clinical data platforms is preferred.
- Experience with knowledge-grounded AI, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, AI evaluation, and responsible AI is advantageous.
- Experience supporting strategic customer engagements, technical partnerships, and complex enterprise integrations is a plus.
- Experience operating in regulated environments involving sensitive healthcare data is preferred.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Conditions
- Executive-level opportunity to shape enterprise architecture and long-term technology strategy.
