About the company

Our partner is looking for a Staff Data Scientist, Growth based in Canada. This is a senior individual contributor opportunity focused on using data, experimentation, and analytical rigor to accelerate growth and improve customer experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to identify and deliver opportunities across acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with marketing, finance, and operations to uncover growth opportunities and improve business decision-making.
  • Champion experimentation frameworks and evidence-based decision-making, helping teams launch, evaluate, and iterate initiatives with confidence.
  • Define KPIs, success metrics, and analytical frameworks that align teams around measurable business outcomes.
  • Apply statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and machine learning techniques to understand user behavior and business performance.
  • Proactively analyze user journeys, lifecycle behavior, conversion funnels, and financial performance to identify high-impact opportunities.
  • Influence product and company priorities by providing data-driven perspectives on impact, trade-offs, and return on investment.
  • Build dashboards, analytical models, and self-service tools that improve visibility into growth and business performance.
  • Partner with the broader data team to maintain a consistent, reliable data layer for internal stakeholders and teams.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and data-informed decision-making across the organization.
  • Manage multiple high-priority analytical projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and delivery quality.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in data science, growth analytics, experimentation, or a related discipline, ideally within a high-growth environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Deep knowledge of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting, and KPI development.
  • Strong product and business acumen, with the ability to connect user behavior and analytical findings to measurable company outcomes.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with product, marketing, finance, operations, engineering, or similar teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ambiguous, complex projects from initial problem definition through execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain sophisticated analytical concepts clearly and influence senior stakeholders through data and structured reasoning.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high standard of analytical quality.
  • Strong curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and bias toward action in fast-paced environments.
  • Solid knowledge of data visualization and dashboarding practices.
  • Experience with experimentation and product analytics platforms such as PostHog, Statsig, or Amplitude is a plus.
  • Experience with dbt, Snowflake, and modern data stacks is desirable.
  • Experience with lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, or growth modeling is an advantage.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth consumer environments is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required due to the customer base and nature of the platform.
  • Must be eligible to work for an employer in Canada and currently reside in Canada.
Conditions
  • Base salary: CAD $200,000–$250,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
