This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Release Train Engineer based in the United States.
As a Release Train Engineer, you will serve as the central facilitator for a newly forming Software Agile Release Train, helping multiple teams work together toward predictable, high-quality delivery.
Responsibilities
- Establish and mature the Agile Release Train operating model, including effective cadences, ceremonies, communication practices, and ways of working across participating teams.
- Provide an end-to-end, high-level view of delivery timelines and dependencies to promote predictable execution across the Software ART.
- Plan and facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning, ensuring teams are aligned on objectives, priorities, dependencies, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Track PI objectives, delivery progress, risks, impediments, and cross-team dependencies, escalating issues and coordinating mitigation as needed.
- Facilitate ART-level events such as ART Syncs, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt sessions, and other forums that support alignment and transparency.
- Identify and remove systemic impediments that affect multiple Agile teams or shared services.
- Coordinate closely with Product Management, System/Solution Architecture, Engineering leadership, Scrum Masters, DevOps, Security, QA, and other stakeholders.
- Improve delivery flow and predictability through Agile coaching, performance metrics, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate constructive resolution of conflicts, competing priorities, and cross-team delivery challenges.
- Promote effective collaboration and accountability across teams while helping the organization mature its scaled Agile practices.
- Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, operating practices, and overall software execution.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Agile delivery, such as Release Train Engineering, Senior Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, or Agile Coaching, with demonstrated experience working in scaled Agile environments.
- Proven experience coordinating multiple Agile teams and facilitating complex software delivery across an integrated technology environment.
- Strong understanding of software solutions and practical knowledge of integrated, end-to-end software systems.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating PI Planning and coordinating multi-team delivery, dependencies, risks, and objectives.
- Strong facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to build alignment across technical and business stakeholders and effectively navigate competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to identify systemic impediments and drive them toward resolution.
- Experience using delivery metrics and Agile practices to improve flow, transparency, and predictability.
- Knowledge of SAFe and Release Train Engineer practices; SAFe RTE or SPC knowledge/certification is preferred.
- Experience with Agile delivery tools such as Azure DevOps and/or Jira.
- Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfortable operating in a newly forming Agile organization and helping establish scalable processes, cadences, and ways of working.
Conditions
- Salary: $83,000–$149,000, with placement within the range depending on experience and geographic location.
