About the role
We are looking for an experienced strategy and business operations professional to help OpenAI for Government decide where to grow and how to build the capabilities needed to serve government customers.
Responsibilities
- Support the growth and maturation of a business operations and revenue strategy function
- Help vertical leaders develop annual business strategies defining target customers, priority projects, partners, and support needed
- Build and maintain the intelligence picture for key territories: mission priorities, budget lines, program timelines, incumbents, competitive positions
- Act as a thought partner to business verticals, run quarterly reviews to track progress
- Partner with OpenAI's industrial security team to forecast secure-space needs, plan SCIF buildouts, coordinate personnel access nominations
- Support OpenAI's Government Innovation Network advisory board throughout the program lifecycle
- Design and run regular advisor meetings, quarterly strategy sessions, and targeted convenings
- Own and drive special projects
Requirements
- Experience in strategy consulting, business operations, a growing technology company, or comparable work
- Can build financial models, size markets, assess competitive positions
- Create compelling executive presentations and write concise memos
- Can define an unfamiliar problem before solving it
- Build trust with executives, government stakeholders, advisors, and technical specialists
- Strong judgment and discretion for sensitive relationships
- Comfortable managing budgets, vendors, contractors, and competing deadlines
- Curious about government missions, procurement, policy, and funding
- Willing to travel periodically
