Our partner is looking for a Platform Security Engineer based in United States. This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure software supporting core platform capabilities, with particular focus on authentication, authorization, API security, secure service communication, data storage, and access controls.
- Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate security principles and practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Conduct security-focused code reviews, identify vulnerabilities and risks, and recommend practical improvements to existing codebases.
- Develop and maintain automated security testing processes, including approaches such as static analysis and other security validation methodologies.
- Monitor emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and mitigation strategies, applying relevant learnings to strengthen platform defenses.
- Participate in security incident response activities, helping investigate issues, coordinate remediation, and improve preventative controls.
- Continuously assess and improve the platform's overall security posture through new controls, architectural improvements, and security-focused engineering practices.
- Document security processes, procedures, technical decisions, and best practices to support consistent adoption across teams.
- Contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused engineering culture by taking ownership of high-impact security initiatives and supporting teammates across a range of security challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline; a Master's degree is a strong plus.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with a significant focus on application, platform, or cloud security.
- Proven experience designing and implementing secure authentication and authorization systems.
- Strong understanding of secure coding principles, application security practices, and frameworks such as the OWASP Top 10.
- Experience with secure communication protocols such as TLS/SSL and a solid understanding of security considerations for distributed systems.
- Familiarity with security testing tools and methodologies, including static code analysis and penetration testing.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C++, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and well-tested components.
- Experience with cloud security principles and tools, particularly across AWS or GCP environments.
- Knowledge of container security, including Docker and Kubernetes security practices.
- Understanding of operating in customer-focused, cross-functional engineering environments where priorities can evolve quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn and take responsibility for both individual tasks and larger security features.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across engineering, product, and other functions.
- A genuine interest in security and a commitment to building secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
Conditions
- Competitive base salary ranging from $185,000 to $260,000 USD annually, depending on location, level, knowledge, skills, and experience.
