- Communicate complex security risks, uncertainties, trade-offs, and measurable themes to executive stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Build strong partnerships across platform engineering, SRE, networking, infrastructure, and broader security organizations to deliver initiatives through influence as well as direct leadership.
- Help establish scalable security capabilities that become practical, widely adopted internal products and paved paths for engineering teams.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement, transparent planning, open reflection, and sustainable engineering practices.
Requirements
- Typically 7+ years of engineering management experience within a broader career of approximately 14+ years across software engineering, SRE, infrastructure, security engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Demonstrated success hiring, developing, and retaining high-caliber engineers, including specialists with deeper technical expertise than your own.
- Strong technical credibility in infrastructure, distributed systems, cloud, or security engineering, with the ability to review architecture, challenge technical assumptions, and evaluate engineering estimates.
- Proven ability to take ambiguous, high-impact technical mandates and turn them into measurable, sequenced delivery.
- Working knowledge of cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, identity and access management, policy enforcement, and vulnerability management.
- Experience delivering through teams and stakeholders outside your direct reporting structure, using influence and strong partnerships to achieve results.
- Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, hiring, team design, and career development.
- Ability to establish repeatable and fair hiring, interviewing, and calibration practices.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated technical and security risks into clear recommendations for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while maintaining high standards for engineering quality and organizational health.
Nice to have
- Experience securing or operating high-performance computing environments, large GPU fleets, or multi-tenant cloud platforms at scale.
- Experience building security or infrastructure capabilities as internal products, with measurable adoption and usage outcomes.
- Experience establishing a new engineering function, team, technical practice, or organizational culture from the ground up.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly scale an engineering team while simultaneously raising technical and operational standards.
- Experience with AI infrastructure, large-scale distributed systems, or security challenges associated with advanced computing platforms.
