About your role:
At Nexters, we create games that capture the hearts of millions of users worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Database Platform Engineer with deep PostgreSQL expertise to join our Platform Team.
Our team operates in an Infrastructure-as-a-Service model, supporting multiple product units. Our goal is to build intuitive, easy-to-use self-service solutions and provide reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient database infrastructure for game product teams.
You will be responsible for developing and evolving PostgreSQL as a core infrastructure component across the company - from analyzing the current state of systems to implementing architectural changes that improve performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

What you'll be doing:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable database infrastructure for multiple game product teams.
- Develop and operate PostgreSQL environments, ensuring stability, performance, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
- Participate in architectural improvements and migrations involving both managed and self-hosted database solutions.
- Work with scaling challenges and high-load production environments.
- Analyze and optimize infrastructure costs, including evaluating trade-offs between managed and self-hosted solutions.
- Automate database operations and environment provisioning using Infrastructure as Code and scripting tools.
- Support and improve existing solutions involving PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS RDS, ElastiCache, and MemoryDB.
- Handle incidents and complex production cases together with product and infrastructure teams.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to understand their needs and reduce the operational burden of working with data infrastructure.
- Contribute to reliability, security, and best practices across the company's database landscape.
We hope that you have:
- Practical experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack, or similar solutions.
- Experience running stateful services in Kubernetes environments.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL, including architecture, tuning, replication, maintenance, and operations.
- Experience as a Database Administrator, Database Reliability Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer working with production database environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments and managed database solutions.
- Experience working with high-load systems and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and scripting using Bash or Python.
- Good understanding of the trade-offs between performance, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure cost.
- A product-minded approach: you care about usability, developer experience, and automation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with distributed product teams.
