About the company
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in the Canada.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end product design for the core platform across platform, core workflows, and enterprise experiences, from discovery and research through launch and iteration.
- Define scalable data relationships, permission models, integration surfaces, and interaction patterns that support a consistent product experience across workflows.
- Establish design system foundations and reusable patterns that can be adopted by other product areas and design teams.
- Design connections between product areas so that workflows, data, and functionality work together as an integrated system.
- Lead genuinely greenfield initiatives by defining the problem, writing the design brief, shaping roadmap direction with Product, and determining how to sequence work for rapid learning.
- Shape experiences for tasks, reporting, integrations, and other workflows across the full grant-management lifecycle.
- Conduct user research end to end, including participant recruitment, interviews, synthesis, and translating ambiguous needs into clear product direction.
- Bring a strong design point of view to product discussions, challenge assumptions when necessary, and advocate for customer needs.
- Align Product, Engineering, GTM, and other stakeholders around product direction and design decisions.
- Raise the quality bar across the design organization through thoughtful critique, collaboration, mentoring, and coaching.
- Explore and apply AI-enabled design and prototyping approaches to accelerate product discovery and communicate concepts effectively to engineering teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product design experience, including meaningful experience at Staff or Principal level and ownership of complete product domains rather than individual features.
- Proven experience owning the design of a platform or core product area within complex B2B or enterprise SaaS environments, including data models, permissions, integration surfaces, and reusable patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to ship net-new products and features alongside foundational platform work, including genuine 0-to-1 initiatives where you helped define the opportunity.
- Deep end-to-end user research experience, from planning and participant recruitment through interviews, synthesis, and incorporation of insights into product decisions.
- Experience designing AI-powered or agentic product experiences.
- Strong systems-thinking capabilities and the ability to understand how individual product decisions affect broader workflows and interconnected product areas.
- Excellent product judgment, problem-solving skills, and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a clear product direction.
- Experience defining and establishing design-system patterns is preferred.
- Experience using AI tools for prototyping, such as creating working prototypes with tools like Claude or Cursor, is a plus.
- Exposure to compliance, data integrity, or workflow-intensive products is advantageous.
- Startup experience and the ability to create structure within lightweight processes are desirable.
- Experience mentoring or coaching other designers is a plus.
- Familiarity with nonprofits, grant management, or the broader social-impact sector is beneficial.
