About the company
BitGo (NYSE: BTGO) is the digital asset infrastructure company delivering custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, stablecoins, and settlement services from regulated cold storage. Since 2013, BitGo has focused on accelerating the transition of the financial system to a digital asset economy.
Responsibilities
- Design and extend the core ledger — accounts, postings, and the account-type/ledger structures that every financial product is built on.
- Own the chart-of-accounts and reporting surface that connects engineering data to financial statements and downstream reporting.
- Work across the boundary between on-chain data and off-chain books: balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve style mechanisms.
- Partner with engineering teams early in the design process to make sure new features correctly model legal entity ownership, ledger placement, pricing, and reconciliation paths.
- Design data models that can absorb new financial products (margin, lending, staking, tokenized assets, and more) cleanly.
Requirements
- Real, working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: double-entry bookkeeping, chart-of-accounts design, financial statements (P&L, balance sheet), and reconciliation and audit requirements.
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, with a track record of owning data-model design.
- Strong instincts for extensible system design — schemas and APIs that can grow with new requirements.
- Comfort reading and critiquing technical designs across multiple systems.
- Strong cross-functional communication — work directly with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product.
Nice to Have
- Experience in crypto or blockchain infrastructure — on-chain balance models, custody, or wallet architecture.

- Prior experience in an embedded "accounting architecture" or financial-systems design-review role at a fintech or crypto company.
