About the company
This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented production designer to play a critical role in bringing retail and packaging designs from approved concepts to flawless, print-ready execution.
Responsibilities
- Own technical production for retail and packaging assets, including dielines, print-ready artwork, specifications, and production files.
- Adapt approved creative concepts across different retailers, sizes, formats, SKUs, and technical requirements while identifying and resolving layout or production issues before printing.
- Build and maintain organized production systems, including templates, specifications, file structures, naming conventions, and tracking processes that support speed and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with print vendors and production partners on materials, tolerances, printing methods, and technical requirements.
- Serve as a key production resource for designers and cross-functional stakeholders, answering technical questions, resolving issues, and keeping projects moving.
- Provide production support for retail and direct-to-consumer packaging initiatives as needed.
- Establish and maintain quality-control processes that identify alignment, copy, structural, color, and other production issues before assets reach shelves.
- Manage high-volume production workflows while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.
- Apply sound judgment when specifications or vendor constraints create challenges, proactively identifying practical alternatives rather than simply escalating problems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Production Artist, Production Designer, or similar role within packaging, print, retail, visual merchandising, or a related environment.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-volume production across multiple SKUs, formats, retailers, and versions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong understanding of print production, including layout, typography, spacing, hierarchy, and technical file preparation.
- Exceptional proofreading and quality-control skills, with an ability to identify subtle alignment, copy, structural, and formatting discrepancies.
- Understanding of color management techniques and maintaining consistent color reproduction during print production.
- Experience working directly with print vendors is highly valuable, with familiarity with flexographic, digital, offset, or lithographic printing considered an advantage.
- Clear and effective communication skills when working with designers, vendors, printers, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong ownership, organization, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to ask questions, investigate issues, and develop solutions independently.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight timelines without sacrificing production quality.
- Familiarity with Figma and 3D rendering tools such as SketchUp is a plus.
- A proactive, curious, and collaborative approach, with a willingness to continuously improve production processes and systems.
