About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (Linux/Kion) based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support secure, cloud-based infrastructure within a highly regulated, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain cloud-based IT infrastructure, systems, and operational processes across enterprise environments.
  • Provide second-level diagnosis and resolution for complex infrastructure and system issues, including analysis of logs, traces, service requests, and supporting documentation.
  • Support the implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, configuration, and enhancement of customer IT systems.
  • Monitor network and computer system performance through master consoles and coordinate network access, connectivity, and subnet operations with relevant engineering teams.
  • Perform Linux and UNIX administration activities across large-scale environments.
  • Develop, test, debug, and enhance Ansible Playbooks, recipes, and related automation solutions.
  • Analyze security scans, remediate findings, and address Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to strengthen system security and compliance.
  • Coordinate configuration changes, installations, and upgrades with application owners, including planning, scheduling, status reporting, and adherence to established change-control procedures.
  • Coordinate with third-party teams and contribute to communications, environment reviews, and audits of installed systems and operational processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and written instructions for routine and non-routine activities.
  • Evaluate new technologies and products and provide recommendations for improving infrastructure capabilities, reliability, and security.
  • Provide guidance or supervision to junior team members when assigned.
Requirements
  • 5–7 years of professional experience installing, configuring, and administering UNIX/Linux-based systems within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and securing cloud-based systems in AWS and Azure.
  • Practical experience implementing and configuring Kion.
  • Experience requesting and installing secure certificates, enabling Global Security through LDAP registries, and configuring SSO using SPNEGO and SAML.
  • Strong UNIX shell scripting capabilities and experience with DevOps and automation tools, particularly Ansible.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills, including log and trace analysis, vendor coordination, service-request management, documentation, and end-to-end problem resolution.
  • Strong understanding of security standards and hardening requirements, including DHS 4300A, DoD STIG, and FISMA requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging products and technologies and recommend solutions that improve existing environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision while also contributing effectively within structured, collaborative teams.
  • Strong time management, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when managing competing priorities and changing operational demands.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with personnel at different organizational levels, including stakeholders outside the IT function and external organizations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance; the clearance must be fully granted before the candidate can begin the program.
  • AWS, Azure, Ansible, or other relevant DevOps certifications are desirable.
  • Ability to function effectively in a general office environment.
