Responsibilities

• Develop AI industry strategy (at Lead level) arguing for a credible AI development strategy not dependent on maximally general and autonomous systems
• Monitor industry and technical developments: smaller/efficient models, open-source AI, physical AI and robotics, high-value applications
• Analyze AI capabilities and safety: capabilities trajectories, agentic systems, evaluation methodologies, verification techniques
• Engage policymakers and institutional stakeholders, particularly across Brazil, Canada, EU member states, and European institutions
• Translate strategy into actionable policy recommendations
• Build coalitions and strategic partnerships
• Communicate complex technical concepts in written analysis and high-level forums
• Contribute to organizational strategy
• Advance responsible AI development

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a technology strategist, ideally in AI policy, tech industry, startup, or policy environment
• Technical fluency in advanced AI: capabilities trajectories, agentic systems, evaluation and verification methods
• Independent strategic judgment
• International policy experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Stakeholder management and partnership building
• Initiative and ownership
• Mission alignment with mitigating catastrophic risks

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in economics, computer science, or technical AI-related field
• Experience at a technology startup
• Knowledge of a safety-sensitive industrial sector
• Professional network among AI researchers and policymakers
