This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior/Staff Network Infrastructure Engineer based in United States.
This is a senior-level infrastructure role responsible for designing and operating the network foundation behind a rapidly scaling AI and generative media platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, validate, and operate public and private network infrastructure across data centers, cloud environments, public platforms, and private compute clusters.
- Automate network provisioning, configuration, validation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and recovery using AI and infrastructure automation tools.
- Manage ASNs, public IP prefixes, private address space, IP allocation, registration, announcements, and lifecycle processes.
- Design and operate BGP routing, including route policies, communities, filtering, traffic engineering, multipath, convergence, and failover.
- Announce customer and organizational IP ranges from physical infrastructure and cloud providers, including Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP) integrations.
- Establish and maintain private peering with customers, partners, data centers, internet exchanges, and cloud providers.
- Build and operate private and overlay networks using technologies such as VXLAN, IPsec, WireGuard, and Tailscale.
- Design and operate DNS networking patterns, including anycast DNS and mDNS.
- Tune Linux networking systems for high throughput, low latency, and large connection volumes.
- Build network observability and diagnostic capabilities using metrics, logs, flow data, active probes, packet captures, and other monitoring techniques.
- Develop reusable networking tools, standards, documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to translate connectivity, security, isolation, and performance requirements into scalable network architectures.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, operational efficiency, automation, and network performance across the infrastructure environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production network infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in Linux networking, including routing tables, policy routing, network namespaces, bonding, VLANs, bridges, firewalling, NAT, and conntrack.
- Deep knowledge of BGP, including route selection, communities, filtering, convergence, multipath, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience managing ASNs, public IP space, BGP announcements, IPAM, RPKI/ROAs, and IRR records.
- Experience designing private IPv4 and IPv6 address plans while preventing conflicts across customers, regions, and environments.
- Production experience with VXLAN overlay networks.
- Production experience with IPsec, WireGuard, or Tailscale.
- Experience operating anycast DNS and mDNS.
- Experience establishing private peering and integrating with cloud-provider networking and interconnect services.
- Strong understanding of Linux network performance tuning, including congestion control, queue disciplines, socket buffers, MTU, NIC offloads, RSS/RPS/XPS, and IRQ affinity.
- Strong packet-level troubleshooting skills using tools such as iproute2, tc, ethtool, tcpdump, Wireshark, and mtr.
- Experience with Ansible or equivalent network configuration and infrastructure automation tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and customers while communicating complex networking concepts clearly.
- Experience with EVPN as a VXLAN control plane is a plus.
- Familiarity with FRRouting, BIRD, or similar software-routing platforms is desirable.
- Experience with AWS Direct Connect, Google Cloud Interconnect, or Azure ExpressRoute is advantageous.
- Experience with internet exchanges, cross-connects, route servers, or colocation networking is a plus.
- Knowledge of DDoS detection, mitigation, scrubbing, or BGP-based traffic diversion is beneficial.
- Familiarity with eBPF, XDP, or DPDK is desirable.
- Experience with NetBox, Nautobot, Nornir, Kubernetes networking, service load balancing, or CNI technologies is a plus.
- Experience with network hardware from vendors such as Arista, Juniper, or Cisco is beneficial.
- Python or Go development experience is a plus.
Conditions
- Competitive annual compensation of $180,000–$250,000.
