Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance responsive web applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks, applying component-based architecture and development best practices.
- Translate designs and business requirements into performant, scalable, cross-browser-compatible user interfaces with a strong focus on usability and customer experience.
- Optimise front-end performance through techniques such as lazy loading, code splitting, efficient rendering, and other appropriate optimisation strategies.
- Develop secure applications by applying front-end security practices, including protection against vulnerabilities such as XSS and CSRF.
- Ensure digital solutions meet accessibility requirements, including relevant WCAG standards, while delivering inclusive and reliable experiences.
- Write testable, maintainable, reusable code and contribute to strong engineering standards, development practices, and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, architects, security specialists, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver user-centric solutions.
- Mentor junior developers, contribute to technical discussions, and promote effective engineering practices across the team.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and support reliable build and deployment processes in fast-paced development environments.
- Design and integrate APIs and protocols, including RESTful APIs, WebSocket, and GraphQL, as part of modern web applications.
- Analyse complex systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions that enhance reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, development practices, and industry trends to continuously improve technical solutions.
Requirements
- Proven senior-level experience in front-end software development, with strong expertise in modern web application development.
- Strong proficiency in React and JavaScript-based technologies, with experience using frameworks such as Angular, Vue.js, and/or Svelte.
- Solid understanding of front-end, mobile, and back-end technologies and how they interact to create seamless digital experiences.
- Experience building responsive, mobile-first applications designed for scalability and performance.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, including reusable architecture, maintainable code, testing, and modern development standards.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, build processes, deployments, and production environments.
- Strong understanding of web security practices and the ability to incorporate security throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience working with APIs and integration protocols such as RESTful APIs, WebSocket, and GraphQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex systems and identify effective optimisation opportunities.
- Good understanding of UX and visual design principles, with a keen eye for creating high-quality user experiences.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including product, UX, architecture, security, and engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and contribute to technical leadership.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies and industry practices.
- Ability to work predominantly from Australia, with certain responsibilities potentially requiring a presence in Melbourne or Victoria.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and comply with applicable employment and verification requirements.
